Icarus: Dangerous Horizons

14 episodes on Elysium, the expansion's new 8 km map.

What Dangerous Horizons is

Icarus is a sci-fi survival game from RocketWerkz, the studio founded by DayZ creator Dean Hall. You are a prospector dropped onto a terraformed planet that went wrong, where you gather, craft, build and try not to be eaten. Dangerous Horizons is its biggest expansion yet, released in March 2026 alongside a free update called Kepler.

The expansion adds Elysium, a new map of roughly 8 by 8 kilometres with desert, tundra, geothermal and volcanic regions, plus radiation zones you can only enter with protective gear. The free Kepler update adds a fifth tech tier, new buildings and humanoid NPCs, so the expansion mostly extends the mid and late game. In co-op only the host needs to own Dangerous Horizons, which makes it easy for friends to join.

What happens in this series

The series lands on Elysium in Episode 1 and follows the main quest line from there. The early episodes are about the Eden settlement, which is a long trek away, and fighting off drones on the way. Next comes a two-part Relics quest, then the exotics, a fabrication bench and serious base progress.

Mid-series the focus turns to resources: rescuing the fishery officer and crafting better guns, exploring caves and deep-mining titanium, and setting up an electric miner on the titanium along with a new shotgun. A secret underground facility (the G15 ERIS operation) breaks things up. Later episodes show off the landing pod as the best way to move a base, add power and deep-mining deposits, and finish with the “Fallout” operation.

Where to start

If you already know Icarus, start with Episode 1, landing on Elysium. If you're new to the game, it helps to know that Dangerous Horizons assumes some experience. The early episodes still work because they start fresh on the new map, but the tech moves quickly.
