VEIN

Zombie survival sandbox: buses, bases, hordes and a permadeath run.

What VEIN is

VEIN is an open-world zombie survival sandbox made by Ramjet Studios, a tiny independent team that funded the game themselves. It entered Steam Early Access on October 24, 2025, after a long run as a free demo. You play one of the few people left after a collapse: you search houses, stores and schools for food, water, tools and ammo, keep your character fed and healthy, get cars and trucks running, and turn a building into a base that can hold off the dead.

If you have played Project Zomboid, the loop will feel familiar, and the developers say openly that it was an inspiration. The difference is that VEIN is in first-person 3D, with seasons that change the weather and zombies that react to what they see, hear and smell. Noise matters, darkness matters, and a car that breaks down far from home is a real problem.

What happens in this series

VEIN is the longest-running survival series on the channel and the one most people find first. It is split into seasons, because each major update or fresh start gets a new world:

  • Season 1 is the bus base. The goal was to ring the base with old buses as a wall, then add a camera system, a well, laundry and solar power. Episode 16, about halfway through the bus wall, is the most-watched video on the channel.
  • Season 2 moves around Saranac and Calico Farms, with a Black Hawk helicopter, the quarantine zone, an outpost in Redford, storage work and hordes spawned on purpose to test the defences.
  • Season 3 starts with a big update and a new home in Dannemora. Most of the season is about the prison next door: its guard towers, two armouries and a second ring of fencing, before the new map expansion arrives in Episode 15.
  • Season 4 is a challenge run: permadeath and shotguns only, starting from the SanWerk start. One death ends the run.

The newest VEIN videos are a fresh start, “New Beginnings”, and a look at the latest map expansion while scouting a spot for a grow operation.

Where to start

You do not need to watch every episode. Season 3 Episode 1 is a good jumping-on point because it begins a new world right after a big update. If you like tension, Season 4 Episode 1 starts the permadeath run from nothing. If you want to see why so many people found the channel, start with Season 1 Episode 16.
